Ring…Ring…Ring…

“Hello, this is Heaven how can I direct your call?” Says the angelic operator on the other end.

“Yea, I’m trying to reach my dad” she says as she doodles on her notepad.

There’s a pause as the angelic respondent checks records. “Yes, hold please”. Silence.

“Hello?”

“Hey Dad, question for ya.”

“Ok, what’s up baby girl?”

“What did you like to drink in the morning?”

“What?”

“Coffee? Tea? Something else?”

“Um…Coffee…Black”

“Okay. Thanks. Bye”

“Wait! That’s it?”

“Yeah. I was talking with my friends about what their dad’s drank in the morning and I realized I never noticed what you had.”

“No. I mean I’ve been up in Heaven all this time and that’s the first thing you ask” Her father interrupts.

Silences passes for a beat, before she sheepishly responds, “Well I wasn’t sure you’d pick up.”

Hurt and somewhat confused he responds “Why would you say that? There’s so much I’ve been wanting to fill you in on. Like your Grandmother or you’ll love this I was talking with the Disciples and ..”

She interjects “Dad, no. I mean I usually talk to my other father, Jesus. He’s always on the mainline so I just tell him what I want. I don’t ever think to ask to talk to anyone else. I didn’t know it was a thing.”

She can hear her father hit his hand to his forehead.

She continues, “So do you think this is like a limited pre-paid plan type of call or unlimited data plan?”

Phone disconnects.

End scene
