Chelsea Market Experience

Cuz this music is making me feel like I need to write!

Chelsea Market, where do I begin? You helped me end my birthday week with sweet treats and a bittersweet reminder that vacation was ending and reality was soon resuming. However, for now we put that on the back burner and focus on the sweetness experienced at Sarabeth’s Bakery, because why not start with desert at 11am. Its easy to blow your budget in the first shop when everything looks so delectable. Stop no. 1, Sarabeth included a chocolate cookie that had the perfect ratio of chip to cookie. Hold the milk, as this soft chewy treat stood on its own. It was the perfect gateway to the stop no. 2 Los Tacos. To put it in perspective my food partner, and older brother, discarded his freshly bought double shot to make room for the main course. Los Tacos had a line that started to wrap the corner, yet patrons didn’t seem to mind the wait. One after the other passed with not one, but up to three tacos at a time. While tacos can cause a long discussion of toping choices and proteins, Los Tacos keeps it simple and authentic. Step 1 pick the protein [we chose carne asada], step 2 head to the counter to discuss tortillas [2 soft, 2 corn; why decide when you can have both], step 3 add and omit toppings [can you say everything please; which consists of salsa, guac, onions, and cilantro]. Personally, I’m not a big eater, but I inhaled 2 of the savory delights. The slight heat gave depth to the tender beef and pungent cilantro. While tasty, after seeing the Adobada [marinated pork] spinning on the spit it left something to be desired; until next time.

Don’t forget to check out downstairs for some unique finds, such as Heatonist Purveyors of Fine Hot Sauces; can we say Yes to samples! Who knew a cremini based hot sauce would have so much flavor; smokey heat that hits the back of the pallet and moseys to the front. This medium heat was enough for me, but big brother took it to level 10 with the hottest sauce in the store [sorry ya’ll Iforgot the name of the sauce]. With a cough, he gave some witty banter and raved about the flavor that accompanied the heat which was apparently “doable”. Be still my heart, as we discuss one of my favorite things; honey. Zach & Zoe Sweet Bee Farm had some interesting honey infusions; such as beetroot, matcha, and ginger root. The honey has a thickness that is pleasant and coats your pallet. The infusions do not overpower the natural flavors of the honey, which I am sure the hardworking bees can appreciate. Can’t wait to try the wildflower and matcha infused honey in some tea. And for the grand finale Doughnuttery. Who knew such a small treat would pack such a big punch.

These bundles of joy are super fun with the ability to be customized, their affordable price makes them sinful as you could easily get 25 for under 30 bucks. Restraint was mastered today as I only left with 6 [ 3 cinnamon sugar and 3 glaze drizzle]. These warm clouds are a bite size treat that finished off the culinary journey and left me hungry for more adventure in Chelsea…
